Hey Peaches. Do you have an online Instagram Store? Are you an Instagram Creative? Well, then The Insta Market is the place for you. I’m about to give you mad fomo because it was a  worthwhile experience at the Insta Market previous Sunday, 29th September 2019 in Dejavu, Westlands.

The Insta Market is a monthly flea market in Nairobi hosted by Eli Mwenda & Rebecca Nkirote at different venues to promote online Instagram stores and creatives in Nairobi. Basically, it is where all the Instagram fleas are at. Retroactive with pomp, color, music, food, drinks, flashlights, socializing and all the trendiest street styles and online Instagram stores in Nairobi. Not to mention, a meet and greet session with some of your favorite Instagram Influencers.

On arrival, my friend Jacky and I had a paparazzi moment with a flea of photographers each trying to get their best angle shots. “Let’s strut it Jacky, alright!”

After all, who wouldn’t want a free photography shoot with some of the best photographers in town?

We entered into The Insta Market in style. Beautiful stylish people and diverse vendors filled the space of Dejavu; Hairstylists, makeup artists, food & drinks vendors, book vendors, artists, retail vendors; thrift clothes, retro fashion, fashion clothing, accessories; handbags, cool sunnies, fashionable bobby pins, jewelry, phone covers, you name it! I made sure I passed by each one of them at least to have a look of their well-showcased products.

However, in my opinion, the space at Dejavu was quite small and stuffy. I hope the next insta market will be hosted at a bigger venue.

On the bright side, I bumped into my friend Anna who own a sustainable clothing brand; BOGUK.

Meet The Insta Fleas:

On entrance, Mimo_Sunnies was the first Insta Store anyone would spot. If you didn’t have sunnies like myself, you’d definitely be tempted to get one in the cool street of the Insta Market. Quite strategic I must say.

I couldn’t fight the temptation, but I don’t regret my choice. Loved these specific ones.

In a nutshell, I can say that the Insta Market is a great platform for creatives to showcase our talents and vendors to make sales by showcasing and marketing their products, going the extra mile past online marketing. Just like how old ways stay golden, exchanging business cards, physically meeting your favorite online stores while meeting new ones as well, provided us with a diverse options of products to choose from without any delivery hustles. Most importantly, something that makes me uber skeptical about making online purchases, is to see the real quality of the products, feel the texture and try it out, buying without second guessing. Also, just interacting with these vendors and getting that warm first-hand customer service is a great deal. Some have beautiful stories worth sharing. Not to mention, the great turn out at the Insta Market must have definitely generated sales for the vendors on a lazy Sunday. If not, then business exposure through networking; I got to find out a few new instagram stores at the Insta Market.

Let’s not forget the fun part hey! Meeting new people, social media creatives and influencers, shopping; trying out new products, friends hang out sessions, and photo shoots to get that Insta-perfect shot!

So yes, I would say that The Insta Market is totally worth it! It’s free entrance too!
