How’s your Sunday going? Looking for a Sunday plan? You know where to go for a chilled-out Sunday with friends on a lazy quiet Sunday in Nairobi. K1 Flea Market at K1 KlubHouse which is located on the corner of Chiromo Lane and Ojijo Road; Hosted every Sunday.
It was honestly my first time to visit the K1 Flea Market which was starting to fade on my bucket list. Sundays are my proper lazy and relaxing days. You’d have to be very special to get me out of the house if it’s not urgent personal errands or a business meeting. I guess the hyped Insta Market that Sunday did the magic plus it was a perfect chance to meet Jackie, so we thought, why not kill two birds with one stone?! I mean, it was either that Sunday.. or.. never! ‘If you know, you know.’
We started off at K1 Flea Market. Mr. Sun welcomed us at K1Klub House with the brightest smile as we found our way into the flea market; I was looking for a row of colorful ‘floating’ umbrellas. We found the place on the right corner of K1 Klub House entrance.
Slightly like The Insta Market, K1 Flea Market happened to be a small space created for local diverse vendors to sell their products. The K1 Flea Market avenue is uniquely decorated with pretty attractive colorful umbrellas hanged on a ceiling along a long wooden table. Its graffiti painted walls makes the place aesthetically pleasing; colorful and vibrant.
Enhanced with painted crates and hay bales, large poster and murals at the entrance completed with a good music background automatically lit up our mood.
On entrance though, we were welcomed by an estranged lady who claimed to be a fortune teller. I was rather spooked than attracted so I can say her charms didn’t really work on me? The antique lanterns hanged on the next stall’s ceiling stole my attention.
At the Fashion Section past the umbrellas ceiling, was where all the fashion fleas were found.
We got Maasai market finds, majority of which were beautiful woven baskets, natural organic products, handcrafted jewelry, accessories, beaded accessories and shoes, thrift clothes, kitenge, new trendy outfits, lanterns and candle holders, paintings, wooden furniture and antiques.
I bought citrus scented candle which smelled amazing! Packaged beautifully in a tiny glass with its lid covered with a pretty kitenge material. Also bought 2 pretty pearl hair clips.
K1 Flea Market is basically a place for a chilled Sunday with friends and family. The coconut stand at the entrance refreshingly gave me coastal vibes and I could not help myself but make a stop at the coconut drinks stall which made me instantly thirsty. It’s like an island girl trap, you know which spot to find me.
The Manager was nice enough to take us a pic and give us a little insight of some of the weekly activities at K1 Klub House.
As it is, a lazy Sunday, expect the place to start filling up at about 3:00 p.m. till late. Because sometimes they host live bands and artists performances during the night. However, if you are not into crowds as much, I’d advice you to come earlier for brunch. Needless to say, it wasn’t packed when we arrived at around 1:00 p.m.
To add onto your K1 Sunday Fun-day, K1 Klub House offers a soccer city to watch football on their big screens, and just before the entrance of the Flea Market, there is a staircase that leads to a bar upstairs which is occupied with Pool and Foosball tables for you to have a game session with friends. Not to mention, a Kids Zone at the end of the flea market stalls for your kids and young siblings to play. When the night hits, it’s Parte.After.Parte! 🎉
Enjoy your Sunday Peaches. Have a cheerful time shopping at the K1 Flea Market and get yourself an Insta-worthy picture by the umbrella ceiling; Off my bucket list!
